NLN RN Pre-Admissions Exam
The National League for Nursing (NLN) RN Pre-Admission Exam is an admissions requirement for the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program and the LPN-RN Transition Program. The minimum acceptable composite score is 95. For non-computer based testing, the results are generally posted within 3-4 weeks after the test date. For computer-based testing, the results will be posted immediately after the exam is completed. The exam score remains current for three years. The exam may be retaken every six months. The higher score will be used if taken more than once.

Test Registration and Cost:
When you are ready to take the test, you will need to complete KCC Non-Credit Registration Form and submit the form to the KCC Continuing Education/Non-Credit Office in the ‘Ilima Building, Room 102 or call 808.734.9211 to register by phone.
For NLN exams scheduled before September 2009, you need only register for the exam via the KCC Continuing Education/Non-Credit Office.
Starting in September 2009, the Nursing Department at Kapi‘olani Community College will begin to administer the NLN exam via the computer. To register for as well as to complete the computer-based NLN exam, you must have working e-mail address. After preliminarily registering for the exam via the KCC Continuing Education Office, you MUST do the following to complete your registration:
1. Go on-line to https://www.nln.org/testingservices/index.htm ;
2. Click to “Online PAX Registration” (within the left-side column);
3. Click on “Register Now,” then create your new user account.
You must complete the above steps BEFORE the day of the test as you will NOT be given extra time to do so at the testing session. You will need a working e-mail address. If you do not have an email address, you may create one through Yahoo, Gmail, etc. Remember your user name and password as you will need it to access the test. Updates or room changes will be sent to you via the email address that you provide prior to the exam.
The current cost of the NLN Exam is $99.
The fee includes processing and postage, one score report mailed to you and one to the school that you designate. Additional score reports cost $25 each. You must have a copy of your exam score report sent directly from the NLN to Kapi‘olani Community College, Nursing Department by the application deadline.
What to Bring:
On the day of the NLN exam (for those exams scheduled before September 2009), please bring a picture ID, your test receipt, and two sharpened (no. 2) pencils with erasers. A sweater or jacket is recommended. You will NOT be allowed to have a calculator, study guide or cell phone.

Request for Duplicate Exam Score Reports
To request a duplicate NLN score report, you must write a letter of request to the NLN and include the information below.
Indicate your full name, current address and social security number or NLN assigned identification number (if applicable);
Indicate the date and place where you took the test and test site program code (Kapi’olani CC);
Submit payment in the amount of $25.00 for each site you want the results sent to (Payment should be made via a money order or certified check made out to NLN. Credit cards are not accepted);
Indicate where you want the results sent by identifying the institution, the institution’s address and program code (see below).
