Kapiʻolani Community College (KCC) administers the ACT Computerized Adaptive Placement Assessment and Support System (COMPASS) placement tests in English, English as a Second Language, and mathematics. For more information, see Placement Testing Information.
Important Test Information
- There is no time limit for the test. You are encouraged to take your time and answer all questions.
- However, you should allow two hours for testing if you intend to take the math, reading, and writing tests together. Each separate test takes an average of about 30 minutes to complete. You will need about 15 to 20 minutes to get set up and read the directions.
- You may take tests separately, one test on one day and return to take the second test. Inform the test monitor of your plans when you check in at the Testing Center. You should allow for an hour to take each test separately.
- You will get the results minutes after completing the test. Ask the monitor on duty.
You may take the test at any University of Hawaiʻi community college. Contact the site for testing details and let them know that you are taking the test for KCC. See University of Hawaiʻi System Web Site.
On the U.S. mainland, call 319.337.1376 to find the COMPASS site closest to you. Contact the site for testing details.
If you do not take the COMPASS at KCC, please contact the Testing Center for guidance on how to convert your test scores into KCC placement recommendations.
