Cultural Uses

Aloe Vera was introduced to the Hawaiian islands for its medicinal properties. The plant consists of long, stalky leaves which contain a think gel and fleshy center, commonly used to treat burns and rashes. The inner leaves are also
edible.

Research shows that Aloe Vera may provide health benefits; a study showed that oral consumption of the plant can reduce blood glucose levels in people diagnosed with Type II Diabetes.
