Distance Learning

Kapiʻolani Community College (Kapiʻolani CC) offers nearly 200 online classes each semester in a wide range of subjects. Any student can take an online class. An online class might be right for you if you want or need a flexible school schedule, know how to study independently, and have enough self-discipline to involve yourself in the course. Our online teachers look forward to working with you!

The purpose of ITS 387P is to maintain currency with rapidly changing website technologies throughout the world, with an emphasis in Hawai'i's business industry. Websites have become the standard medium for exchanging data between users and organizations, as well as between users. Websites interface user client-side browsers to organizational databases. ITS387P is a project-based course where students can expand upon their knowledge using the most common client side programming languages as well as the most common server side scripting language and database technology in use by organizations today. Projects will include writing client side programs in HTML, JavaScript, jQuery and Angular JS, as well as server side programs written in PHP interfacing to SQL databases. Students also learn how to configure WordPress websites interfacing server side SQL databases. The course provides credit for 1 of 6 classes resulting in the Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) which trasfers to UH Maui College for the Applied Business in Information Techology (ABIT) Bachelors degree.
