ENG 100: Composition I

ENG 100 students will develop strategies for effective college writing, with an emphasis on critical reading and thinking. This course includes instruction in the composing process and practice in various kinds of writing, including analysis, interpretation, and research writing from sources. By the end of the course, students will complete a minimum of 5000 words of finished prose, roughly equivalent to 20 typewritten pages.

Prerequisite(s): ENG 22 with a grade of "C" or higher, or qualification for ENG 100 on the KCC placement instrument. This ENG 100 class section (CRN 32370) is conducted online. Please check your email account regularly for course notifications and email the instructor ( as needed for additional information. Go to and take a quiz to help you decide if an online class is right for you. To take an online class, you need regular access to a recent model desktop or laptop and high-speed internet. This class does NOT require time-specific online meetings, though there may be some optional opportunities to meet synchronously online. This class does NOT require proctored exams. This ENG 100 class section (CRN 32370) is designed to help students successfully complete ENG 100 in one semester. Students enrolling in ENG 100 (CRN 32370) must also enroll in ENG 98 (CRN 32369) Student who withdraw from ENG 100 (CRN 32370) must also withdraw from ENG 98 (CRN 32369).
