ED 283: Partnerships in Education

ED 283 focuses on collaboration and communication strategies for building partnerships with culturally and linguistically diverse families, including families of learners with disabilities. Students will explore family system theories, models of family engagement, and the changes in today?s society influencing family-school dynamics. The differences in the value and belief systems of families, schools, and communities, and their impact on students? learning and the family-professional partnership will be examined. The laws and rights of families, and advocacy for all families will be also be addressed.
