FAQs

Do all Kapi‘olani CC grant proposals and contracts need to be processed through ORS and with myGRANT?

Yes. All extramurally funded grant proposals need to be reviewed and processed through the Office of Research Services (ORS). ORS uses myGRANT to manage all proposals and awards. Some proposals do not go through myGRANT, such as system funded grants (i.e. Perkins grants, mini grants, and other system-wide grants. However, all grant submissions should be reviewed by the Shared Services Center to facilitate the internal review and approval at least 5 business days before the grant submission deadline.

I have a contract with an outside agency to provide services or training. How does it get processed for approval?

All Kapi‘olani CC contracts must be uploaded to myGRANT for review and approval. The KCC-GO team will assist applicants with routing extramural funding requests via myGRANT

How do I access the myGRANT system?

The myGRANT proposal submission system is accessible online via the UH Office of Research Services website (requires UH login credentials)

I have never used the myGRANT system. Is there help or training available?

Yes. Please contact the UH Office of Research Services Helpline for technical assistance with the myGRANT system. You may access the myGRANT instructional manual by logging into the myGRANT system. Please refer any requests for assistance to kccgo@hawaii.edu.

I just received a grant or contract award letter, when can I start spending?

If you used the myGRANT system to submit the proposal, your account will be set up by ORS (Office of Research Services) and the campus fiscal staff. First, ORS will accept the award on behalf of the principal investigator and issue an extramural award notice by email. The fiscal specialist assigned to your account will notify the PI once a project account has been established.

I did not use myGRANT at the time of submission and just received the grant/contract award letter. What are my next steps?

You will need to retroactively submit the funding proposal documents via myGRANT. Please contact the KCC-GO team at kccgo@hawaii.edu, or ext. 9780 for assistance.

Who is authorized to sign grants and contracts on behalf of Kapi‘olani CC?

All extramural awards (grants, contracts, awards) must be signed by ORS authorized organizational representatives. If you have further questions, please contact the KCC-GO team at kccgo@hawaii.edu, or ext. 9780.
