Registered Nurses

Registered nurses (RNs) provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their families.

Completion of the Associate Degree in Nursing program at Kapiʻolani CC and passing the NCLEX-RN (Board of Nursing) Exam can lead to registered nursing licensure.

Licensed Practical Nurses

Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) provide basic medical care. They work under the direction of registered nurses and doctors.

Completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Practical Nursing program at Kapiʻolani CC and passing the NCLEX-PN (Board of Nursing) Exam can lead to a practical nursing licensure.

LPN-RN Transition Program

Licensed Practical Nurses may be eligible for the LPN to RN Transition program.

Completion of the Associate Degree in Nursing (Transition) program and passing the NCLEX-RN (Board of Nursing) Exam can lead to registered nursing licensure.

Certified Nurse Aides

Nurse aides (NAs) provide basic care and help with activities of daily living.

Completion of the Certificate of Competence in Long-Term Care Nurse Aide program at Kapiʻolani CC will allow students to sit for the Prometric of Hawai‘i Nurse Aide certification exam.
