The Life in Colors of the World 2014 Exhibition and workshops that feature Master Textile Fiber Artist and fashion designer, Akihiko Izukura, is scheduled for September 15-25, 2014 at Kapi‘olani Community College. Izukura’s silk work will be displayed at the Great Lawn and among the campus trees. A demonstration, fashion, and trunk show will also be held. For the workshop, Izukura Sensei will teach Japanese 290 students to transform silk worm cocoons into silk fabric pieces that will be joined together as a natural colored silk screen. The cooperative masterpiece will be displayed in the Campus library, along with the silk work of Reiko Brandon, who studied with Izukura Sensei, and is a textile artist currently living in Honolulu.
The beauty, radiance, and power of Hawai‘i inspire Izukura Sensei, who works to find a path for people to coexist with nature. His Red and White Human Object will be exhibited to express the significance of international exchange.
