Students completing this certificate can go further by taking the Enrolled Agent certification exam. Enrolled agent (or EA) is a tax advisor who is a federally authorized tax practitioner empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.  Enrolled agents represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for tax issues including audits, collections and appeals.

According to the 2019 Robert Half Salary Guide, starting annual salary midpoint for a payroll manager/supervisor is $72,750. Payroll coordinators & administrators can expect $46,000 at midpoint.  The midpoint for a payroll clerk salary is $39,000.

Students completing this certificate can sit for the American Payroll Association’s Fundamental Payroll Certification exam.  Candidates passing this certification exam may be promoted to the payroll manager/administrator position.
