We understand that you may be experiencing financial distress due to the unexpected circumstances created by the global coronavirus pandemic. As a currently enrolled student (Summer 2020), you may be eligible to receive emergency assistance from the Urgent Student Relief Fund. This fund was developed by the University of Hawai’i and UH Foundation with money from generous donors.
The first round for Summer 2020 is now open. Applications to the Urgent Student Relief Fund will be due by 4 pm on Wednesdays with notification the following week. The number and dollar amount of awards will be determined based on the availability of funds and needs of the students. Awards may be subject to federal taxes.
You must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply at
- You have a documentable temporary financial need resulting from an unexpected emergency event. Urgent Student Relief funding would, in turn, support your ability to be successful and make academic progress.
- You are enrolled in a credit certificate or degree program at Kapi‘olani Community College.
- You are currently enrolled at one or more of the UH campuses for Summer 2020.
Please note that we anticipate many applications for the Urgent Student Relief due to COVID-19. Every attempt will be made to review and process your application as quickly as possible and as funding permits.
To maximize as much aid to students as possible, it is the institutions intent that one Urgent Student Relief Fund award be made for an individual student within an academic year. During the summer terms, preference will be given to students who have not received an award during the spring semester.
