What is accreditation?
Accreditation is a process by which institutions of higher education are evaluated to ensure that they meet or exceed national standards of quality. Kapi‘olani Community College (Kapi‘olani CC) is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 331 J Street Suite 200 Sacramento, CA 95814, (415) 506-0234, an accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.
What does this mean to students?
Because the College is accredited, it offers our students federally funded financial aid such as Pell Grants. The College receives educational grants to help our students. The credits that students earn here are of the highest quality and can be transferred to other institutions across the nation.
Program accreditation
Kapiʻolani CC’s career and technical education academic programs are accredited or endorsed by professional organizations, ensuring the transferability of credits, certificates, and degrees, and the ability to find work with your license or certificates in other parts of the nation.
Public Notification of an Evaluation Visit and Third Party Comment
Kapi’olani CC is currently undergoing its institutional self evaluation and comprehensive review process in preparation for our Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) re-accreditation site visit in Fall 2025. Notice of the Peer Evaluation Team site visit and a campus community open forum will be posted here once the dates and times are confirmed.
As part of the re-accreditation process, ACCJC is requesting Third Party Comments. Comments can be submitted by the Kapiʻolani CC campus community and general public. ACCJC will review all third-party comments to assess their applicability to Eligibility Requirements, Accreditation Standards, or Policies. Applicable third-party comments will become part of ACCJC’s review of Kapiʻolani CC and will be shared with the College. You are invited to submit third-party comments by June 30, 2025:
