Strategic Plan
The Kapiʻolani Community College (Kapi‘olani CC) strategic plan outlines a comprehensive framework for guiding institutional priorities from 2023 to 2029, emphasizing a commitment to students and the integration of Native Hawaiian values into every aspect of the plan. This strategic approach incorporates stakeholder engagement and aims to meet the workforce needs while fostering a thriving campus culture and ensuring student success. Additionally, it lays out a structured timeline for implementation, analysis, and reflection to facilitate continuous improvement across various programs, units and departments.
Kapiʻolani CC’s strategic plan is set to run from 2023 to 2029 and aligns with broader University of Hawaiʻi System objectives. The college prioritizes its kuleana (responsibility) to Native Hawaiians and Hawaiʻi by embedding these values into its strategic framework. The three main directions of the plan are workforce needs, thriving campus culture, and student success
Strategic Plan Timeline
A structured timeline includes critical milestones for departments to submit Strategic Implementation Plans and reflect on their progress.
Programs, Units and departments were asked to submit Strategic Implementation Plans (SIPs) to articulate their hana (work) aligned with the strategic plan. Later in the year, they reflected and analyzed their hana to propose improvements or next steps to their plans. Each year cycle consists of the same components; Implementation Guide, Strategic Plan form, Analyze and Reflect form, Strategic Plans, and discussions.
Implementation Guide
An overview of the campus strategic planning timeline, expected programs, units and departments that should submit plans and FAQs.
Strategic Implementation Plan Form
A Google form that collects the programs, units and departments plans at the start of the academic year.
Analyze and Reflect Form
A Google form that collects the programs, units and departments analysis and reflection of the year’s hana in order to plan for the next year. This may include improvements, discoveries, revelations and/or next steps. This is also an opportunity to prepare for the resource allocation requests that come in the summer, between academic years.
Strategic Plans
For every plan submission a PDF version is generated. Each program, unit and department submits at least one plan, with flexibility to submit more. The link provided to access the strategic plans leads to a google sheet, which includes an overview of the year’s submissions sorted by alahele and unit. Plans can be accessed in various ways throughout the google sheet.
Discussions
Campus discussions are planned each semester focused on different topics. After year 1, the discussion topic was “Closing and Connecting the loop.” Year 2 topics were focused on nā alahele and Kuleana. Year 3-6 topics are TBD.
