Dr. Michaelyn Nākoa Hall led a delegation from Kapiā€˜olani Community College to the University of Southern California Race and Equity Centerā€™s Takeoff: Institutional Innovations for College Men of Color grants kickoff event in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA). Hall presented to a cohort of fourteen minority-serving institutions selected from a nationwide search on Kapiolaniā€™s strategies to attract and retain male students from underrepresented populations to reverse the trend of declining enrollment of men in higher education.

USC RACE paired Kapiā€˜olaniā€™s Takeoff Team up with their coach, Dr. SĆ©fa Aina, Associate Dean and Director of the Draper Center at Pomona College in Southern California.

The grant kickoff event took place at the Conrad LA, one of Downtown LAā€™s most exclusive venues. Participants met the USC RACE team, their coaches, and sponsors from the ECMC Foundation.
