When should I contact the Title IX Coordinator or Deputy?
Any student, faculty, or staff member who has concerns about sex discrimination or sexual misconduct is encouraged to seek the assistance of a Title IX Coordinator. You can contact the coordinator or a deputy if you:
- Have a complaint involving sex discrimination or sexual misconduct;
- Learn of a situation that you feel may warrant a College investigation;
- Have questions about Kapi‘olani CC’s policies and procedures.

- Ensuring prompt and equitable resolutions of complaints
- Overseeing a centralized reporting process for all sexual harassment and misconduct allegations on campus
- Tracking and monitoring these allegations
- Coordinating training, education and prevention efforts

Regardless of whether you elect to pursue a criminal complaint or administrative complaint and regardless of whether the incident occurred on- or off-campus, the Title IX team is here to support you. The Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinators, Campus Security, and other designated offices can provide you with verbal and written information and referrals.
To the extent of your comfort level, campus offices will work cooperatively to ensure that your health, physical safety, and academic status are protected. Designated campus resource offices will work with you to prevent harassment from continuing and perhaps escalating, and provide any other reasonable support necessary to continue your education at Kapi‘olani CC.
Examples of accommodations (if appropriate and reasonably available) include:
- no-contact orders,
- campus security escort services,
- non-retaliation notices,
- changes in class schedules, and
- safety plans
When seeking advice and support, if you are concerned about confidentiality and privacy, please discuss your concerns with the person with whom you are speaking. Kapi‘olani CC has confidential resources available to assist you.
As required by federal law, most College employees who become aware of an incident of sexual misconduct must notify the Title IX Coordinator. The Title IX Coordinator is charged with investigating and responding to allegations of sexual misconduct. Kapi‘olani CC will seek to maintain your privacy at all times during the process but confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
