Student Housing Options

Kapiʻolani Community College does not provide on-campus housing. As a commuter campus, the college does not operate residence halls, dormitories, apartments, homestays, or other college-managed housing accommodations. Therefore, students are responsible for arranging their own housing before and during their studies at Kapiʻolani CC.

While we understand that finding suitable housing is an important part of preparing for college, Kapiʻolani CC is unable to recommend, endorse, or refer students to specific landlords, rental properties, homestays, roommate arrangements, or housing providers. Housing needs and personal preferences vary greatly from student to student, and we believe it is important for each individual to select accommodations that best meet their unique circumstances, budget, and lifestyle.

Students are encouraged to begin their housing search as early as possible and to carefully research any housing opportunities they are considering. Before signing a lease, paying a deposit, or making any financial commitment, students should review all terms and conditions, verify the legitimacy of the housing provider, and ensure they fully understand their rights and responsibilities. Taking these steps can help students make informed decisions and avoid potential misunderstandings.

Because housing arrangements are private agreements between students and housing providers, Kapiʻolani CC is not able to intervene in housing-related matters, disputes, or contractual issues. However, we encourage students to seek appropriate community, legal, or consumer resources if they encounter difficulties with a housing arrangement.

We recognize that securing housing can be one of the more challenging aspects of attending college, particularly for students relocating to Hawaiʻi. By encouraging students to independently explore available options, Kapiʻolani CC hopes to support informed decision-making while ensuring that each student is able to find accommodations that best fit their individual needs and circumstances.

Financial Aid Issues

Housing costs are included in the Financial Aid Cost of Attendance budget for students living with parents, in UH dorms, or in off-campus accommodations. If you are a financial aid recipient, you must inform the Kekaulike Information and Service Center, Financial Aid section, about any changes in your housing situation.
