Program Description

The non-credit Certified Nurse Aide is a state approved 150-hour course combining lecture, lab, and clinical experience to prepare entry-level students in learning the basic nursing care to the elderly, the ill, and the disabled in long-term care, sub-acute, and home health settings. Students completing the training successfully will be eligible to sit for the certification exam to become certified nurse aides (CNAs).

All students will need to have current CPR and First Aid certifications and student liability insurance prior to enrollment. Other health documents and immunizations, COVID vaccinations, criminal background checks, and other requirements will be requested prior to beginning their clinical experience.

Please be aware that our Kapi’olani campus offers two Nurse Aide programs

We offer the Certified Nurse Aide program through the Non-Credit Department and the Long-Term Care Nurse Aide program through the Credit Nursing Department. Both programs aim to help you meet the Certified Nurse Aide requirements in Hawai‘i, but they have different course schedules. We encourage you to explore both options to find the one that best suits your needs.
