If I am a University of Hawaiʻi student, can I take summer classes at a UH Community College campus?
Yes, students currently enrolled at a University of Hawaiʻi campus can take summer courses at any UH Community College campus. However, please check with your home campus academic advisor to ensure the credits will transfer toward your degree or certificate.
How do I attend the summer session if I am not a current Kapiʻolani CC or UH student?

How does financial aid apply to my summer classes?
After Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress is determined (no earlier than the first week of summer session 1), financial aid will be applied directly to your account to offset/pay summer tuition.

How many credits should I take during my summer session?
It depends on your goals. Completing one 3-credit class in 6 weeks may be intense but manageable. Work with a counselor to create a plan that works for you.
How many credits do I need to take if I use Department of Defense (DOD) or Veteran Affairs (VA) education benefits?
Summer session classes occur over 2 sessions. To receive full VA education benefits, students must be enrolled in at least 4 credits per summer session and take at least one in-classroom course. For DoD Military Tuition Assistance (TA), students must be enrolled in 4 or more credits per summer session to be considered full-time.

How many credits are considered full-time during the summer session, for financial aid purposes?
- Full-time = 12+ credits
- Three-Quarter-time (3/4x) = 9 – 11 credits
- Half-time (1/2x) = 6 – 8 credits
- Less-than-half-time (<1/2x) = 1 – 5 credits

Where can I get my student ID and U-PASS during the summer?
Student IDs with a U-PASS can be obtained at the Kapiʻolani CC Student Life Office. Be sure to bring a valid photo ID and proof of summer registration and payment. Note that the summer U-PASS is not subsidized by student fees and will be full price. Check the office hours and availability before visiting
