Please join us to celebrate our PEEC II Engineering students’ undergraduate research projects at this three-day (August 18th, 19th, and 20th) asynchronous symposium:

2020 PEEC II SYMPOSIUM
August 18-20, 2020
Symposium: http://go.hawaii.edu/3f5

This symposium is an opportunity for engineering students from Kapiʻolani CC, Honolulu CC, Leeward CC, Windward CC, UH Mānoa, and UH Maui College to showcase the research they performed and projects they worked on during their summer programs. Please visit at your convenience to review student presentations and to post comments, questions, and suggestions that will help them to think critically about what they have accomplished.

Advised by Aaron Hanai, Ph.D. and Jacob Tyler, M.S., KapCC students were tasked with creating a sustainability-based project using an electronics kit and whatever they had in their homes. Projects include a rain catchment system that irrigates native plants and a device to control lights using a motion sensor.

Check out presentations from our own Kelly Hwang, Keoni Ichiyama, Giavonna Kalaiwaa, Juvy Ann Lucero, Joselito Macabante Jr., Matthew Paulino, Cole Pelayo, and Kohlby Soong. We also have students Seth Colbern and Jeraldine Milia whose presentations can be found under the UH Mānoa tab.

The Hawaiʻi Pre-Engineering Education Collaborative II (PEECII) is a collaboration between six University of Hawaiʻi campuses with the goal of increasing access to engineering education and experiences for Native Hawaiians, women, and other underserved minorities in the engineering fields. This symposium gives students, community members, industry professionals, and UH faculty/staff the opportunity to meet and form connections with each other. This consortium is supported by the Tribal Colleges and Universities Program (TCUP) from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Special mahalo to Andy Pak, Nadine Wolf, and John Rader who provided summer math instruction to these future engineers!
