The KCC-GO team is pleased to confirm that Kapiāolani Community College submitted its application for re-designation as an eligible institution for federal funding through the Titles III, V, and VII programs of the Higher Education Act of 1965. Kapiāolani is required to re-apply for designation every year to remain eligible for federal grant funding to support self-sufficiency through academic programs, institutional management, and fiscal stability.
Kapiāolani was successful in applying for two federal grants through the Title III ANNH (Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian) Serving Institutions Programs last year. We are hopeful to be re-designated in the 2022-2023 cycle to seek additional funding. Furthermore, Kapiāolani receives HEERF funds through Tranches 2 (institutional portion) and Tranche 3 (for Minority Serving Institutions) through its dual designations in ANNH and AANAPISI.
A comprehensive list of current and previous Title III-funded projects are posted to the Title III website at ā https://ohana.kapiolani.hawaii.edu/title-iii/abstracts/
Please stay tuned for more discretionary grant opportunities this year. We had another record setting year with 41 proposals submitted requesting an additional $21 million for campus programs in FY 2021.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who contributed to the Title III eligibility application: Chancellor Louise Pagotto, Kapulani Landgraf, Kelli Goya, Bob Franco, Shaun Kiyabu, Kara Plamann Wagoner, Brandon Chun, Michaelyn Nakoa, LaVache Scanlan, Denise Pierson, Naomi Chow (ORS), and Judy Oliveira (OVPCC).
