What is an Institutional Scholarship?

An institutional scholarship is a need or merit-based type of financial aid awarded by colleges and universities. Like other types of scholarships, institutional scholarships help offset the costs associated with higher education.

How can this help you?

The University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents established the Student Financial Assistance Program with the following intentions:

  • Support equal access by Hawaiʻi residents to University programs by making institutional aid available to students with demonstrated financial need
  • Promote the achievement of high-quality educational programs by attracting and retaining academically superior students to our campuses
  • Foster the development and maintenance of a highly diversified and stimulating campus environment
