On May 27th, The Title III Shared Services Center honored the recipients of the Title III Consortium Fellowship with the event, “A Toast to the Fellows.” The Fellows were among the first visitors to the new Title III Shared Services Center in ʻŌhiʻa 103. Fellows shared stories about their academic programs of study and their experience working full-time at Kapi‘olani Community College while attending graduate school.
The Title III Consortium Fellowships were awarded to the inaugural class of Fellows to provide professional development opportunities to support their respective roles in supporting a Native Hawaiian serving institution. Through the fellowships, Kapi‘olani Community College supports The University of Hawaiʻi’s mission to be the world’s foremost indigenous-serving university and embraces its unique responsibilities to the indigenous people of Hawaiʻi and to Hawaiʻi’s indigenous language and culture.
To fulfill this responsibility, the Kapi‘olani CC is partnering with UH Maui College to provide fellowships through the Title III collaborative to promote active support for the participation of Native Hawaiians in the pursuit of vigorous programs of study in the Hawaiian language, history, and culture.
Fellows photographed from left to right are Sung Derek Lee, Angela Coloretti, Keōmailani Eaton, and Hannah Aldridge. Fellows not photographed are Michalyn Nākoa, Keisha Nakamura, and Ākea Kahikina.
